WHO CARES WINS
IK&B EMPLOYEE LISTENING INDEX
Why employee listening (and acting) shows you care and why that matters.
We asked 2,000 UK employees to tell us about how their employer gathers feedback (and what they do with it).
The results told us a lot about the state of employee listening.
We heard that:
More than a third of UK employees think their organisation doesn't care whether they are happy at work.
Employees who don’t feel their feedback is sought are 5 times less likely to feel confident about the future direction of their organisation
One in four
say their organisation does not seek employee input in important decisions
The impact of this?
Lower motivation, less advocacy, less confidence.
So where are we going wrong?
We’re constantly hearing that ‘one-and-done’ annual surveys don’t cut it anymore. There seems to be a general shift towards continuous and always-on listening due to the pace of work and the world around us, meaning we need to be more responsive than ever to tune into how our people are feeling.
But that’s only part of the story.
We also need to act on what we hear. We need to have a firm plan before we ask the questions. And – crucially- we need to follow through on what we say we’re going to do.
As our report reveals: ‘Listening and not acting is more damaging than not listening at all’
So, if you’re starting to think about how to listen better, don’t miss these insights into employee listening.
